Wishing You A Happy New Year

Hi, Anne, I wanted to wish you a very wonderful New Year! You have been a wonderful inspiration to me this past year with your painting project. It spurred me to tackle house projects that I normally would not have done.

My husband and I especially enjoy your posts because you are a do-it-yourself person, like us. There's a lot of satisfaction in doing your own home repairs and improvements. But I especially enjoy how you stay Slim and Chic in the process — you don't "let yourself go" just because you are working on a large project. I loved the overalls you bought for taking up the carpet!

I love yesterday's post about chic sighting of a certain age. I think we are an under-represented group (those of us of a certain age) and I really appreciate that you are filling the gap.

I'm a visual person, so when you include photos, I especially appreciate those! Seeing your lentil soup photo inspired me to make the same to bring for my work lunch this week.

I wish you all the best and will continue checking your website Thursdays and Sundays. I look forward to those days.

All my best, Mary

Postcard from Paris

I had to smile when I read the postcard. Our special Chic & Slim correspondent Kat has been in Paris again. Her postcard you see above is a production of Éditions Alain Baudry, showing a Saint-Germain-des-Prés montage (from left to right) of well-known Le Café Flore, la Place de Fürstenberg, and Les Deux Magots.

What made me smile was that in the previous Nouvelles I had mentioned how a chic French woman will only buy or prepare a dessert so that each at the meal will have a small serving and there will be none left over. Note Kat’s description of the birthday cake at a celebration she observed.

21-7-16

So here I sit on Boul St Germain in cafe opposite the Flore and the Deux Magots! next door to Bras. Lipp. Am delighted to report that on the Rive Gauche tous les femmes Parisienne are Chic & Slim !! There are degrees of slim, of course, but nobody is overweight. And they are all eating a decent lunch !! A group of girls are celebrating a birthday. The “cake” is a single portion sized fruit tart with a sparkling candle stuck in it !! It’s a hot day, nobody is drinking alcohol. Nobody is smoking (though you can, outdoors.)

Paris is still Paris !!
