Update: In the article below posted yesterday, I commented that I had been reading in the fashion forecast for autumn that skinny-legged jeans are out and that everyone will be wearing the full-legged or straight-leg jeans. But that the Parisiennes in the photos are all wearing skinny-legged pants.

In response to my comments, our Chic & Slim Special Correspondent Kat emailed information on wide vs. skinny legs for pants in France. Kat wrote:

In all my years of visiting France,Paris included, I have never seen a woman wearing wide pants. Tailored trousers, worn with a blazer or jacket, certainly. In summer, harem (Zouave) pants in soft fabrics, gathered at the ankle, or falling straight, yes, but only in summer. French women obviously know that wide pants in winter weight fabrics make you look fat!

I have seen many pictures of “Parisian“ women wearing them, but only models, and only on the Internet, in Who What Wear!

Merci, Kat, for clarifying the issue.

Chic and Slim Parisiennes

Our Chic & Slim Special Correspondent Kat is in France visiting and shopping in an area that sees a lot of weekend visitors from Paris. She has sent photos of chic Parisiennes to assure us that they are still chic and slim. And to show us what these chic Parisiennes wear for shopping on a casual weekend. Merci, Kat

Note in the photo above that everyone is wearing masks and staying nicely socially distanced. Kat sent high resolution photos that enabled me to zoom in on all the people in the photo, even those in the background, to see their masks.

One thing I found interesting about these photos was that all the women are wearing "skinny leg" pants. Three are wearing jeans, though the woman in black in the upper photo seems to be wearing patterned leggings. Because she has very slim legs, they do not fit tightly. I have been reading in the fashion forecast for autumn that skinny-legged jeans are out and that everyone will be wearing the full-legged or straight-leg jeans. But for these Parisiennes this mid-August, this does not seem to be the case.

Kat has been sending other photos from her French visit. In the coming days I will be sharing more of them with you. Again, merci, Kat.
