Dior: From Paris to the World
One of my favorite museum memories is a morning I spent at the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado. After making a tour of the museum’s exhibits, I settled on a comfortable bench and for a half hour indulged myself in studying their collection of Georgia O’Keeffe paintings.
Though the Denver Art Museum is usually associated with art of the American West and artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Frederic Remington, and Charles Russell, beginning on 19 November 2018, the museum will feature a Dior in Denver exhibit.
Dior: From Paris to the World surveys 70 years of the House of Dior’s enduring legacy and its global influence. A selection of more than 200 couture dresses, as well as accessories, costume jewelry, photographs, drawings, runway videos, and other archival material, will trace the history of the iconic haute couture fashion house, its founder, Christian Dior, and the subsequent artistic directors who carried Dior’s vision into the 21st century.
Even if you cannot view this exhibit in person between 19 November 2018 and 3 March 2019, the Denver Art Museum’s website has a comprehensive slideshow of fashions and photos that make up the exhibit.
