How to Wear a Béret

Bérets are iconic French headwear. Brigitte Bardot in a béret. Très française! But in the USA possibly the best-known béret-wearer was Bonnie Elizabeth Parker, a member of the notorious criminal Barrow gang that plagued the central part of the country in the 1930s.(The gang shot up the court house in an Oklahoma town 30 miles from where I grew up.) Bonnie Parker’s béret-wearing was immortalized by actress Faye Dunaway (with some help from costume designer Theadora Van Runkle) in the 1967 film “Bonnie & Clyde.”

Bérets are classic. Harper's Bazaar published a slide show of ideas on various ways to wear this style of hat a couple of years ago. But ways to wear bérets are classic too. The ideas are still useful.
