Paris Chic June 2023

When our Chic & Slim Special Correspondent Kat recently visited Paris, she kept her eye out for good examples of chic. Along with four photos, she sent her analysis of the state of chic as she observed in Paris in June 2023. Keep in mind that Kat takes these photos surreptitiously. Usually she does not hear the women speak so she has no way of determining if the women are French — or another nationality. These days especially French women have no monopoly on chic. And in summer Paris is overflowing with visitors from all over the world.

Kat wrote:

Where do I begin? Walking the streets of Paris yesterday I saw so many chic, slim women that I’m hard put to remember half of them today!

I do remember the girl wearing strands of pearls as a belt, a young woman boarding a train at St Lazare wearing a tailored shorts suit (beige, not pink, pressed, not crumpled, and with flat pumps, not 4 inch stilettos) lots of floaty summer skirts, and big white shirts worn over slim fitting pants. Impossible to snap even a fraction of them, they move too fast, in fact, at times, it seemed a bit like a fast moving fashion show.

What struck me most was that, in Paris, nobody seems to be following any kind of trend (Note to Who, What, Wear: would you please stop telling us What All The Women In Paris Are Wearing Now? because they aren’t!) They are wearing what they choose to wear, it may be a look they have decided suits them, and are sticking to, or they may decide to go for a completely different look tomorrow. Who knows?

The four I’ve pictured here are as good an illustration as any. The certain age blonde lady in the cafe (who shot me a beaming smile when she looked my way) looked classically chic in a silk or silk like shirt and skirt - yes, worn with trainers!

Anne Note: The young woman in pink and white was so pretty that I hated having to apply a mask. But privacy regulations demanded it.

 

The pretty blonde I spotted in another cafe was a treat for the eyes - if she looks like this having breakfast out on a weekday morning, what goes she look like after dark?

The photo of the girl in the cargo pants and shirt doesn’t do her justice. She had an amazing figure, and that boyish haircut suited her perfectly.

Anne Note: I could not help noticing that the brown triangle on the back of her trainers matched her brown belt — and her dark brown hair. And her black shirt and handbag with the khaki pants. Great combination of black, brown and khaki for summer chic.
